Talmine beach has a fascinating old wreck of a wooden boat on the shoreline. Talmine is in the far north of Scotland in Sutherland and can be found off the main Thurso to Durness route, just as you cross over the Kyle of Tongue causeway. The road passes the beautiful Melness Cemetery.
I must admit that the Melness Cemetery is in a lovely location overlooking the sea and with the mountains of Ben Hope and Ben Loyal in the background I think this must be more of the most scenic locations to be laid to rest.
The beach at Talmine is lovely and clean. The shoreline is stony which you need to walk over to get to the sandy beach when the tide is out. The scenery is outstanding.
